Am I supposed to feel sorry for my pack a day smoking coworker who has no money?

I have a coworker who's always crying poverty. Every day during lunch she sits there eyeing our meals while going on about how she can't afford anything for herself. Often she asks for bites of our meals, or if we can spare her a bit so she can get something from the machine. But this woman smokes a pack a day. That's around $10 a day down the drain. And her boyfriend smokes as well. So between the two of them they're wasting maybe around $150 a week. So why am I supposed to feel sorry for her that she's hungry when she so happily blows cash on a stupid addiction?
